Michael Denton, Founding Member
Assistant Pastor at Oakbridge Church in Morgan Hill, California. He is also a private music teacher.
Michael Denton first met Pastor Mekala at the First Baptist Church of Monterey, where he was sharing about the ministry in India. Michael led the worship that morning, and after the service, Pastor Mekala challenged him to come to India and serve with his music. He promised that he would never be the same. At first Michael laughed it off, but God wouldn’t let go of his heart. Within a year he was in India with his brother, David, helping Pastor Mekala to lead evangelistic crusades. He found out later that Pastor Mekala had returned to India after extending his invitation, and told the orphans that a man named Michael was going to come. The children prayed for him every day. Michael has since visited India four more times.
EXPERIENCE
Michael’s ministry started at the age of 13, when he began playing piano specials in church. His love for music eventually led him to form The Denton Brothers Quartet with three of his siblings. They produced two CDs and were honored with numerous concert opportunities. Michael went on to serve as Worship Pastor for his church and performs the guitar with his wife, Katie, who plays the violin. He has been a Youth Pastor and Children's Pastor, and has written some original children’s music. In addition, he helped to establish the organization Children's Conferences International, where he continues to serve as Assistant Director.
It was Michael’s twin brother, Christopher, who originally thought of forming an organization dedicated to helping Pastor Mekala’s ministry in India. Soon after, Bless India Ministries was born, with Michael as a founding board member. He is a powerhouse of ideas and enthusiasm, and often brings a fresh perspective to board meetings.
FAMILY
Michael and his wife, Katie, have two young daughters, Madison and Michaela. They reside in San Jose, California.
